Srinagar, Feb 26 (KNS): A meeting of senior functionaries of JKPCC was held here today under the chairmanship of President PCC G.A. Mir to discuss the current scenario in Jammu and Kashmir and other parts of the country.
A statement issued to KNS reads, the meeting expressed grave shock over the loss of several precious lives and injuries to several persons in the national capital Delhi and termed it as a matter of grave concern. The meeting expressed strong anger and anguish over the violent incidents in the national capital under the nose of the Centre and State Govt. which is a matter of serious concern and national shame. The meeting appealed to the people to maintain peace and religious harmony at all costs and defeat the nefarious designs of communal and divisive forces in the country the statement issued to KNS said.
The meeting took stock of the current political and security situation in Jammu and Kashmir. The meeting viewed that the present dispensation has failed to respond positively to the demands of the various sections and resolve the problems of the common people.
“The different sections of the people especially the youth are agitating for their respective demands, which are quite justified. They are seeking fulfillment of the commitments made to these sections from time to time by the Govt. and especially the BJP. The youth feel cheated and betrayed by the BJP, which is at the helm of affairs. The BJP Govt. has arbitrarily withdrawn the 5 years concessions to the youth of J&K in civil services besides abolishing J&K cadre,” statement said.
“The issue of SRO 202 is quite justified demand and needs to be resolved immediately. The party has taken strong exception to the failure of the present Govt. at the Centre and UT administration to respond positively and favourably to the different suffering sections of Jammu and Kashmir including the different categories employees especially those on temporary, adhoc, contractual and daily wage basis. Their demands need to be addressed favourably in view of the overall scenario in J&K,” statement added.
The youth of J&K are facing cheated betrayed and deprived of their valuable rights and there are no jobs even in Govt. sector in view of prevailing uncertainty. The meeting also expressed concern over the inadequate compensation to the paddy farmers of the border belt of Jammu region who suffered total loss to the paddy crop as well the wheat crop.
“The BJP Govt. is shedding crocodile tears over the plight of farmers and talks of doubling their income but even fails to provide the adequate compensation to the worst affected sections of farmers,” statement reads.
The meeting also noticed the dual standards and false commitments of BJP regarding the imposition of taxes on the transporters under MVA and the toll plazas, least caring for the great economic distress in the country.
“The unprecedented price hike of all essential commodities has put heavy burden on common and made their lives difficult, while Govt. is continuing imposing heavy taxes and duties on the people.,” statement said.
On the political and security front, the party said that the Centre Govt. and UT administration is not taking any positive steps to facilitate a conducive political atmosphere in Jammu and Kashmir.
The positive initiatives from the Govt. in the prevailing atmosphere are totally missing and the totally hostile attitude and mistrust will not help create a conducive atmosphere for any meaningful and credible political activity in the present scenario. The meeting also lashed out at the hostile security approach towards opposition by the present people at the helm of affairs and sought for immediate review of the present approach on political and security environment to create conducive atmosphere for any sort of routine political activities in Jammu and Kashmir.
The meeting also discussed the programmes to reach out to the party cadres and people in the coming days in order to highlight the problems and issues of the different sections of society.
The meeting also expressed concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in view of recent incidents of gruesome crimes in Jammu. The police agency must gear up to meet the growing challenges on the incidents of crimes and drug trafficking and ensure the safety & security of the common man (KNS).
