Srinagar, Nov 03 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council on Thursday held a meeting here chaired by Secretary Sports Council wherein all the heads of the sports associations of the State were present.
According to the statement issued to KNS, it said that the sports Council is all set to promote sports and games in the state in general for achieving excellent results in National or International competitions.
In the meeting the associations were asked to furnish a detailed project report duly supported with financial implications for the creation of sports academies or school in their respective sports discipline in the state of J&K so that such proposals could be taken up with relevant govt or semi-govt or other agencies to facilitate the creation of such schools or academies.
The secretary sports council said the association heads that “you are the people who can give us ideas, proposals for the overall development and reviving of sports culture in the state.”
He further added that the sports council is taking SAI Training centres in the state as a pilot model.
Talking to the reporters outside, the heads of various sports associations affiliated with sports council said that the response of the JK Sports Council is innovative and progressive.
Meanwhile, in a major development, the Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council concluded the basketball championship tournament at Indoor Sports Stadium Srinagar.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelThe tournament started from 1st November and today was concluded with Boys under 14 Kashmir Knights defeating Lackers with a score of 13:6. Similarly, Boys Senior Alley Oops defeated Jayhawks with score of 16: 8. Meanwhile in the girl’s category Black Hawks defeated Grey Hawks with a score of 21: 8.
On this occasion, Minister for Education, Naeem Akhtar who was Chief Guest on the occasion appreciated the efforts of Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council and said that such tournaments should be held in future also.
Secretary Sports Council, Waheed ur Rehman Para said that they are fully committed to promote sports culture and integrating it with health and education. He also said that such trainings would channelize the youth energy for constructive purposes. He further added that the doors of Sports Council will always remain open for the aspiring youth who want to join Sports.
While distributing prizes among the players, Education Minister Naeem Akhtar said that that the youth is our endeavor to uphold and create ample opportunities for Kashmir’s youth. The government is desperate to work with youth, where youth are eager for sports and are shunning the drug addictions. (KNS)
