New Delhi, Oct 11 (KNS): Union Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office Jitendra Singh felicitated Srinagar youth Faheem Nazir, who was allegedly assaulted in Delhi after raising slogans in support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during a meeting with a BJP Minority Morcha delegation.
The delegation, led by BJP Minority Morcha national president Kunwar Basit Ali, met Singh and apprised him of the incident involving Nazir, according to a statement issued by the party's minority wing.
During the interaction, Singh heard Nazir's account of the alleged assault, appreciated his courage and felicitated him for standing by his political views despite the incident, the statement said.
The meeting comes days after Nazir was allegedly attacked in Delhi following an exchange with people attending an event in the presence of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
The BJP Minority Morcha has accused persons associated with the Congress of involvement in the assault and demanded a fair and impartial investigation. The allegation against Congress-linked persons has not been independently established.
According to the statement, Singh listened to Nazir's account of the incident and acknowledged his decision to express his political views despite the alleged intimidation.
Basit Ali said every citizen had the constitutional right to support a political leader of their choice and express opinions without fear of violence.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
He maintained that political differences should be addressed through democratic discussion rather than intimidation or physical confrontation.
The BJP Minority Morcha also said members of minority communities should be free to make independent political choices and should not be treated merely as a vote bank.
During the meeting, Nazir reaffirmed his commitment to India's unity, sovereignty and constitutional values, the statement said.
He also expressed concern over political instability in neighbouring countries, including Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, and stressed the importance of safeguarding India's democratic institutions.
“Faheem Nazir is not alone. The entire nation stands with him. His courage reflects the dignity, resilience and spirit of a fearless India,” the Morcha said.
BJP Jammu and Kashmir State Executive Member and Minority Morcha co-incharge Aijaz Hussain also accompanied the delegation and expressed solidarity with Nazir.
The Morcha reiterated its demand for an impartial investigation into the alleged assault and action in accordance with law.
The statement did not provide details of any fresh action taken by investigating authorities in connection with the incident. (KNS)
