Srinagar, Oct 11 (KNS): J&K Congress Chief Tariq Hamid Karra said that the Congress Legislative Party (CLP) of J&K today unanimously passed a resolution granting the central leadership the authority to decide the next CLP leader.

"The resolution has been forwarded to Congress's high command, which will now take the final call on who will lead the party in the assembly. We will hand over letter of support to National Conference," he said in a presser according to KNS correspondent.

In a press briefing, the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief, J&K Tariq Hamid Karra who had recently returned from a consultation with the central leadership in Delhi, clarified that there is no delay in the decision-making process. "There is no lingering. I have just returned from Delhi, where I updated the central leadership on the situation, and now the decision will be made shortly," said the PCC chief.

When questioned about rumors of National Conference (NC) leader Omar Abdullah being considered as the Chief Ministerial candidate, the Congress leadership refrained from commenting. "The National Conference has chosen its leader, but we have not had any formal discussions with them about demands or positions yet.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelOnce we engage in formal talks, we will discuss a governance model," the PCC chief Tariq Karra stated.

The Congress and the National Conference are reportedly working on finalizing their alliance's governance framework, with formal talks expected soon.
According to the Congress J&K Chief, these talks will cover everything from the common minimum program to addressing commitments made in their manifesto.

"At this point, we are focused on ensuring that the alliance is built on a pan-India spirit, rather than just a numbers game. Our fight with the BJP is on various fronts, and we need ideological compatibility to move forward," said the Congress leader, underscoring the larger significance of the alliance beyond electoral arithmetic.

Despite questions about the diminished powers of the assembly following the constitutional changes in Jammu and Kashmir in 2019, the Congress leadership expressed confidence that they would fulfill their manifesto promises. However, they reiterated that formal talks with the National Conference are yet to take place. (KNS)
