Srinagar, Jan 14 (KNS) : The Indian Army today commemorated the 10th Defence Forces Veterans' Day with a series of events and welfare initiatives across the Kashmir Valley. The programme, spearheaded by the Chinar Corps, honoured the service and sacrifices of ex-servicemen, 'Veer Naris', and 'Veer Matas'.
Events were conducted by multiple formations, including the Dagger Division, Vajr Division, Counter Insurgency Force (Kilo), and the Jammu & Kashmir Light Infantry (JAKLI) Regimental Centre. The ceremonies aimed to recognise the enduring contribution of veterans and their families to nation-building while addressing their concerns with respect and empathy.
Large-scale ex-servicemen rallies were held at key locations such as Srinagar, Drugmulla, Uri, Chak Kigam, Manasbal, Langate, and Haiderbeg. Senior military officials presided over the gatherings, personally felicitating and interacting with attendees.

The rallies provided a direct platform for veterans to resolve queries pertaining to pension, documentation, and medical support. Officials also disseminated information on various government welfare schemes, ensuring prompt and effective grievance redressal in coordination with civil authorities.
These initiatives underscore the Indian Army's steadfast commitment to veteran welfare and exemplify the nation's profound gratitude towards its former soldiers. The sacrifices of these individuals have been instrumental in safeguarding national sovereignty.
