Hailstorm devastates north Kashmir crops, one dead: Sajad Lone

 Handwara, May 25 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Conference (JKPC) president Sajad Gani Lone on Monday said a severe hailstorm has caused widespread destruction to agricultural and horticultural land in north Kashmir, besides claiming one life in the Lolab valley.

 
In a statement, the legislator from Handwara said the damage was particularly extensive in the Kupwara district, including Handwara and Lolab, leaving thousands of families dependent on farming facing massive losses.

He also reported a fatality in the Lolab area due to the inclement weather.
 
The MLA Handwara appealed to the administration to initiate immediate relief and rehabilitation measures for the affected families. "It is my humble appeal that the government of the day ensures that relief and rehabilitation of those who have suffered losses is initiated," he added. (KNS)
