Govt unmoved over water crisis in Srinagar, failed to provide basic facilities: Laigaroo

Srinagar, Oct 18:(KNS) Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) youth secretary Arif laigaroo Sunday expressed concern over the growing water shortage in Srinagar City.
In a statement, Laigaroo said most of areas in Downtown are facing acute water shortage but the concerned authorities seem unmoved over the water crises problem.
He, while drawing attention of administration to the scarcity of drinking water in Downtown areas and city outskirts like Hyderpora, Chanapora, Peerbagh and its adjacent areas, said people have been facing scarcity of potable drinking water for past few months now.
He said authorities at helm of affairs must act immediately. “Supplying portable water to the consumers is an essential service. This essential service has been hit in Srinagar areas for past several months,” he said.
He said the situation aroused due to water scarcity is appalling as one can see mothers and sisters in queue for fetching water at community taps, which also are running dry.
Laigaroo said that several public delegations from different areas visit PDP office everyday with complaints of water scarcity and lack of basic facilities.
He has urged authorities to redress the public grievance without any further delay.(KNS)
