Srinagar, Aug 13 (KNS): Felicitating Pakistan on its Independence Day today, the Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani extend his heartiest felicitations to the people and the government of Pakistan on their Independence Day celebrated on August 14. Kashmiri nation is highly grateful to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan for extending its wholehearted moral, political and diplomatic support to our just cause and struggle since 1947. We pray to Almighty Allah for peace, strength, stability, progress and prosperity of Pakistan for a strong and stable Pakistan is very important for the resolution of Kashmir issue.
In a statement issued to KNS, Hurriyat (G) Chairman expressed his hope that the new government in waiting under the leadership of Mr. Imran Khan shall leave no stone unturned to safeguard the rights of minorities in Pakistan. The Hurriyat leader also pinned hope in Imran Khan to try his level best to make sincere efforts for installation of an ideal government like the state of Madina based on equality and justice for all.
Meanwhile, appealing people to observe 15th August as a “Black Day”, Hurriyat Conference (G) clarified that in principle we are not against rejoicing Independence Day of any country. It is irony of the fate that a country like India celebrates its Independence Day at the cost of grabbing the same opportunity of a small people like Jammu and Kashmir by using its military might and political deceits.
Hurriyat Conference (G) while condemning the unleashing of a reign of terror before the commencement of 15th August on the people of Kashmir said that the people of India do enjoy the happy movements of their Independence whereas the people of Kashmir remain caged in a horrendous situation created by the presence of heavy contingents of occupation forces.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelPeople are intimidated, maimed, incarcerated, tortured on one pretext or the other, said Hurriyat and termed this grim situation as a catastrophe for the people of Kashmir.
Taking a dig on the role of the highly developed and civilized nations of the contemporary world, Hurriyat Conference (G) made a fervent appeal to shun the policy of double standards and discrimination against the political and civil rights of the weaker nations like Kashmir and Palestine, irrespective of religion, color, caste or creed and help resolve the long pending disputes before the UN. Hurriyat Conference also demanded high level probe by the UNHRC by sending a delegation to visit Jammu and Kashmir to take stock of the grim situation prevailing in the state in presence of millions of occupation forces patrolling on the streets and roads and exercising of nocturnal raids, not only in the busy towns but also in the remote hamlets, thereby creating a fear psychosis in the nook and corner of the state.
Hurriyat (G) condemned the arrest spree against its political leaders and activists including Mohammad Yasin Aataie, Syed Imtiyaz Haider, Shakeel Ahmad Bhat, Mohammad Maqbool Ganie, Sofi Ghulam Mohammad, Bashir Ahmad Choone, Mohammad Yousuf Ganie, Shakeel Ahmad Hayatpora, Fayaz Ahmad Yatoo, Gh. Rasool Kar, Mohammad Sultan Bangroo, Haji Gh. Hassan Bhat and Ishfaq Ahmad Khan.
Hurriyat (G) also condemned the nocturnal raids on the residence of Mohammad Rafiq Ganie General Secretary Muslim League and intimidating his family. (KNS)
