Srinagar, May 14 (KNS): The fresh landslides and shooting stones at Digdol area of Ramban district led to the closure of Srinagar-Jammu highway, leaving thousands of people stranded on the highway.
Officials in the traffic department told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that the fresh shooting stones and landslides at Digdol today led to the closure of highway yet again.
They said that the road was being cleared but the shooting stones continue to occur.
Witnesses told KNS that thousands of people were stranded on the highway following the closure of the road.
Meanwhile, officials in the traffic department said that stranded vehicles will be allowed to ply following the clearance of road, adding that the road will hopefully be cleared soon.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Notably, the highway was reopened on May 11 following the two-day closure of the road due to landslides at Digdol in Ramban district.
Srinagar-Jammu highway is the only road connecting Valley with rest of the States.
It is worth to mention here that the local meteorological department here has predicted rains till May 15, saying that the weather would remain wet till May 15.
The MeT department had also advised farmers here not to spray their agri lands till next one week. “The farmers should not spray their agriculture lands till next one week,” he said. (KNS)
