BARAMULLA, JANUARY 28 (KNS) : Baramulla Police on Wednesday apprehended four alleged drug peddlers and recovered a significant quantity of narcotics from their possession.
In a statement police said, Acting on specific intelligence, a police team established a NAKA checkpoint at Ogmuna in the Kunzer area.
During routine checking, four individuals, travelling from Karhama towards Ogmuna, were seen approaching the checkpoint. Their movements aroused immediate suspicion. Upon spotting the police party, the suspects attempted to flee the scene but were tactfully intercepted and overpowered by the alert personnel.
A search led to the recovery of contraband substances. The arrested individuals have been identified as Mohd Amin Rather, son of Abdul Khaliq Rather, resident of Karhama (12.
Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel05 grams recovered), Furqan Ahmad Lone, son of Manzoor Ahmad Lone, resident of Mirchipora, Tangmarg (07 grams recovered), Mohd Saleem Lone, son of Ghulam Nabi Lone, resident of Mirchipora, Tangmarg (05 grams recovered), Maroof Ahmad Bhat, son of Bashir Ahmad Bhat, resident of Pandithpora Bala (04.50 grams recovered).
The total seizure amounted to 28.55 grams of the contraband substance.
All four accused were placed under arrest at the spot. A case bearing FIR No. 08/2026 under sections 8/21–29 of the stringent Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Police Station Kunzer.
Investigation into the matter is ongoing to uncover possible forward and backward linkages, police said. (KNS)
