In a brutal and barbaric act, unidentified gunman killed a former militant and his three-year- old son at Sagipora Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Friday evening.
Reports said that on Friday evening unidentified gunman barged into the house of Bashir Ahmad Bhat of Sagipora village in Sopore and fired indiscriminate at him resulting in serious injuries to 36-year old former militant and his three-year old son, Burhan. Neighbours rushed both injured to the hospital; however, Bhat succumbed to his injuries on way while Burhan could survive only till Saturday morning.
Reports maintain that Burhan was in his father’s lap when unidentified gunman attacked the duo.
Bhat reportedly was associated with a militant organization almost 15 years ago; however he had renounced gun after serving the prison term and was running his business in Sopore.
The killings have casted pall of gloom in the entire Sopore in particular and in Valley in general.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelPeople whom KNS spoke to said that the killing of 3-year old baby by the unidentified militants can’t be justified in anyway. They demanded that the culprits behind this gruesome murder be brought to book. People belonging to different religious, political and social organizations have widely condemned the killings. Police, meanwhile, termed the killings as of father- son an “act of terrorism”.
IG Police Kashmir SJM Gilani told KNS that militants have killed the father-son duo. “We have started investigation into these killings and our initial finding are that Bhat and his 3-year old son have been killed by the militants,” he said.
The killing of father- son has been widely condemned; while as veteran Hurriyat leader, Syed Ali Geelani has called for complete shutdown on Sunday to protest the killings. (KNS)
