Srinagar, May 08 (KNS): Secretary Education and Tourism Farooq Ahmad Shah today held an interactive session with representatives of prominent private schools of valley and discussed various issues and ways to strengthen the education sector in the state.
The meeting was attended by Director School Education Kashmir Dr. G N Itoo and representattives of more than 50 prominent school heads including G N Var, M Showkat Chowdhary, M Y Wani (Green Valley Educational Institute) Shabir Ahmad Mir (R.P School), Prof Masood (Iqbal Memorial Institute), M Y Kuchay (JK Public School), Anaytulah Hajni (SRM Welkin School Sopore, Sajad Ahmad (Radiant School Islamabad), A.R Baba (Salfia Educational Institutes), Dr Azmi (Falahi Aam Trust), Islamic Mission Schools, Al-asma School Budgam, Legend School, Oakhill, Kashmir Public School, Prof G.M Malik, Mubashir Wafai, Khurshid Ahmad, Jahangir (Kulgam) and others.
The Secretary gave a patient hearing to the school representatives and assured them of complete help from government. The Secretary said that the goal of both government and private schools is to provide quality education to all. On the issue of cumbersome registration process of private schools, the Secretary assured the school heads that the department will soon switch over to simple online mode for registration. He directed the officials to start accepting online forms for registration within ten days.
The Secretary said that government will provide level playing field for private schools and at the same time upgrade the quality of education at government schools too. He said that government is working on a single focus to make the education sector child centric and various steps have been taken in this regard.
The Secretary said that Kashmir has a rich history of academics and government wants to revive the glory of Kashmir being Sharda Peeth or land of learning. He said that with collective efforts, Kashmir can become a knowledge hub in South Asia due to its unique location and able human resource. He said that all the issues that are acting as impediment to educational growth will be resolved on priority basis.
He said that government will limit its role as a strong regulator and every genuine issue confronting private sector will be taken care of. (KNS)
