Srinagar, January 23 (KNS) : In a major security and compliance initiative ahead of Republic Day, the Northern Railway's Jammu Division on Friday conducted an extensive ticket checking drive at Srinagar Railway Station and aboard trains, including the premium Vande Bharat Express.
The drive, led by Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal, involved coordinated efforts between ticket checking staff, the Railway Protection Force (RPF), and the Government Railway Police (GRP).
Officials stated the dual objective was to curb ticketless travel and bolster security protocols in the sensitive Kashmir Valley region.
Passengers arriving and departing were thoroughly checked for valid tickets. Authorities emphasized that the drive aimed not only to ensure revenue compliance but also to identify suspicious individuals and enhance overall travel safety.
Speaking on the campaign, Uchit Singhal said, "This extensive drive has been conducted with the main objective to curb ticketless travel and strengthen the security system. Staff have been instructed to maintain special vigilance, particularly on Vande Bharat and other trains, and to urge passengers to travel with valid tickets and adhere to all railway guidelines."
The initiative underscores the heightened security measures being implemented across transportation hubs in the region ahead of the national celebrations. (KNS)
