Srinagar, Jul 28 (KNS): The in-completion of Rangreth-Rawalpora drainage project being constructed by Economic and Reconstruction Agency has caused immense inconvenience to commuters and transporters.
The project has been going on for the last five months but is yet to be completed.
Commuters and transporters traveling from city to and fro Rangreth are complaining about the ERA and the government for not expediting the work on the drainage system.
The army convoys travelling to and fro Rangreth too have faced problems and have diverted their convoy movement from Old airport to new Airport and pass through Humhama in Hyderpora to their respective destinations.
The commuters travelling on the airport too complain that due to heavy rush of vehicles which had increased by the army convoys, their travelling inconveniences have mounted.
The passengers and commuters travelling who have to avail flights at the airport say that due to increased rush of traffic and diversion, they miss flights as they cannot reach on time due to traffic jams on the airport road.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Being the VIP road and only connectivity to the airport, Humhama road faces heavy rush of traffic and even tourists coming to Kashmir also complain about the rush and missing flights.
Minister for R&B, Naeem Akhtar told KNS that he has already directed the ERA to complete the road as soon as possible to relive the travelers of the inconvenience.
When contacted, ERA chief Satish Razdan told KNS that the drainage project has been complete and now the road is being paved and macadamised.
“It will take nearly 10 days to throw road open for public and traffic. The army convoys will cancel the diversion along new Airport and resume their convoys on Rangreth-Rawalpora road,” Razdan said. (KNS)
