CM Omar Abdullah Inaugurates Key Projects, Holds Public Darbar in Ganderbal

Srinagar, May 20, (KNS) : Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday inaugurated several development projects, laid foundation stones for upcoming works, and held a public darbar during his visit to Ganderbal district.

The Chief Minister, who represents the Ganderbal constituency in the J&K Legislative Assembly, said the initiatives reflect the government’s commitment to improving basic services and the quality of life for all.

At Bakura, Omar Abdullah inaugurated a Water Supply Scheme completed under the JKIDFC programme at a revised cost of ?329.04 lakh. The groundwater-based project will provide clean and reliable drinking water to the area.

In Pandach, he inaugurated an Old Age Home constructed at a cost of ?499 lakh. The two-storey facility includes medical rooms, dining areas, and accommodation for elderly residents. The Chief Minister inspected the facility and described it as a significant step toward ensuring dignity and care for senior citizens.

At Safapora, he laid the foundation stone for the Science Block at Government College of Engineering & Technology (GCET), saying the addition will strengthen technical education in the region.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

In Wahidpora, Omar Abdullah laid the foundation stone for a Central Veterinary Hospital, a ?437.82 lakh project aimed at improving animal healthcare and supporting farmers and livestock owners.

The Chief Minister also visited the Mata Kheer Bhawani Temple to review arrangements for the upcoming annual festival and assured devotees that all necessary facilities would be in place.

In a welfare gesture, the Chief Minister distributed scooties to specially-abled individuals in Ganderbal, reaffirming his government’s commitment to inclusivity and empowerment.

Later, he presided over a public darbar, where delegations and individuals from across the district flagged various demands, including potable water, road connectivity, health and education facilities, playgrounds, and sanitation improvements. Omar Abdullah assured them that all genuine grievances would be addressed on priority.

Cabinet ministers, senior officers, and local officials accompanied the Chief Minister during his visit.(KNS)
