Srinagar, Sep 05 (KNS): Expressing concern over the deteriorating health condition of Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) president, Abdul Qayoom Wani, the forum on Monday demanded his immediate release.
While condemning the continuous detention of Wani and other leaders, District president Kupwara of EJAC told KNS that the heath condition of Wani is deteriorating with each passing day and said that the leader needs medical aid.
He said that they are worried about his well being and have expressed apprehensions about his falling health. “The leader should be released at earliest,” he said.
Pertinently, Police on August 22 detained scores of EJAC leaders after they staged sit-in against the killing of 67 civilians by government forces and to press for inquiry by Supreme Court judge to look into the excessive use of force on civilians.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
They had also staged protest against what they termed as the government diktat forcing employees to report on duties in turmoil.
Meanwhile, Police on August 31 re-arrested leaders of EJAC including its chief Abdul Qayoom Wani after magistrate bailed out all of them.
The leaders - Abdul Qayoom Wani, Tariq Ahmad Sofi, Manzoor Ahmad Pampori and Fayaz Ahmad Shabnum are lodged in sub-jail Kupwara while Farooq Ahmad Trali, Shabir Ahmad Langoo and Haji Idrees Ahmad are lodged in sub-jail Baramulla. (KNS)
