Education Deptt distributes Mid-day meal to students in Ramban


Rambam, April 02 (KNS): To provide some relief to the needy students who are not able to attend schools and take Mid-day meals in view of 21-day lockdown due to coronavirus pandemic, the Government has ordered that all leftover food grains currently stored at schools should be distributed among students equally.

In this regard District Administration Ramban is reaching to it's target by providing dry Mid Day Meal to the students at their door steps amid Coronavirus lockdown.

It is notable that as schools are closed due to lock-down, so there is no possibility of cooked food being provided to them on a daily basis.

Keeping in mind the fact, government decided to permit distribution of stored food grains and other ingredients among students. School headmasters, teachers and even management have been asked to deal with this at their level and ensure the process is carried out fairly. Schools have to first inform the concerned Panchayat members about the government’s decision and fix a time and day to distribute the uncooked food grains among children at their doorsteps.

Giving details of the distribution of food grains among primary and upper primary students in District Ramban, Cheif Educationist Officer Ramban Vinod Koul said that 1000 teachers and sub-ordinate staff has been deployed to distribute the ration among every students at their respective doorsteps.
CEO Ramban said that out of 46000 beneficiaries, in last two days, we have distributed food grains among 12000 students at their doors, hopefully we will complete the process within a week.
He informed that sticking to social distancing norms, teachers have been asked to ensure that when they go to distribute the ration, they should maintain at least one metre distance between them while providing the foodgrains.
CEO also informed that in first phase, we are distributing foodgrains, while after it's completion, we will credit money of cooking charges among students through their bank accounts.
Authorities said that the decision was taken specifically for rural children who will now get access to food grains during the lockdown. (KNS)
