Srinagar, Mar 02 (KNS): A driver, conductor of truck died after the truck they were travelling in collided with a Trolley truck near Sherbibi Banihal late last night, police said on Thursday.
According to the police officials, during the intervening night of Wednesday-Thursday at about 11:30 pm, a truck bearing registration No JK 03G-8811 driven by Abdul Gani Dar son of Ghulam Mohammad Dar resident of Dooru Islamabad collided with a Trolley truck bearing registration No JK 02BH-2877 near Sherbibi Banihal.
In this accident, a driver of the truck and his conductor Mudasir Ahmad Rather son of Farooq Ahmad Rather resident of Watihal Kurigam Qazigund died, police said.
Meanwhile, the Banihal area observed complete shutdown today against the road accident. All the shops and other business establishments remained closed in the area.

Reports said that the family staged protest against the death of the duo and has questioned the police claims, saying the vehicle should have been damaged if it was an accident.
The protesting family members had blocked the national highway at Qazigund for a couple of hours.
However, they have been dispersed for now with assurances of an investigation by police officials.
Meanwhile, Police spokesman in a statement issued to KNS claimed to have arrested the driver of the trailer who has allegedly crushed two persons to death at Sherbibi in Banihal area.
A police spokesman said that the driver of the trailer namely Bali Ram of Chatta Jammu has been arrested. “The questioning of the driver is going on to ascertain the circumstances of the accident,” the spokesman said in a statement released to media. (KNS)
