Dr Umar Farooq again barred from attending Friday prayers: Anjuman Auqaf

 Srinagar, July 02 (KNS): Anjuman Auqaf Jama Masjid said that Dr Moulvi Umar Farooq continues to remain under house detention for the 200th consecutive Friday since August 2019. 

 

Anjuman, in a statement, issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS) said that it fails to understand that if all is under control and  even international conferences can be held here the why is he being barred from attending Friday prayers. 

 

It said that due to his detention, he is unable to perform institutional duties including social , reformative and educational responsibilities which is very unfortunate. 

 

“This is depriving the community of an important indigenous resource woven into the cultural social and religious ethos of the people and playing an important part in their development and growth as a community.”

 

Anjuman appealed to the to all human rights organisations including National Human Rights Commission, UN Human Rights Council  and Organisation of Islamic Cooperation to play their role in ensuring his release. (KNS)
