DC Kupwara reviews Eid-ul-Adha arrangements

KUPWARA, JULY 12:(KNS)   The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Imam Din today convened a meeting of concerned officers to review the arrangements being put in place for smooth celebration of upcoming Eid -ul-Adha, here.

The Additional District Development Commissioner Kupwara, Nazir Ahmad Lone, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Handwara, Nazir Ahmad Mir, Sub Divisional Magistrates of Karnah and Sogam, district and sectoral officers were present in the meeting.

The DC directed the concerned officers to ensure all arrangements are in place as assigned to them earlier on June 30 through an order.

He said that it was collective responsibility of all stakeholders including Imams of Masajid, Officers and all of us to disseminate awareness regarding maintenance of Covid Appropriate Behaviour even if district Kupwara is expected to be declared Green zone within days, adding that special medical teams shall be deployed on the festive occasion for covid sampling and vaccination.

He directed Power and Jal Shakti Departments to ensure uninterrupted power and water supply during the festive occasion as per the directive of LG.

The DC asked the Chief Animal Husbandry Officer to keep 2 fair price shops open to the public for sale of poultry birds. He was informed that 80,500 poultry birds are available with the department for sale at District Veterinary Hospital, Salkoot Kupwara and Mobile unit at Handwara at the rate of Rs138 per kg.

He directed concerned officers to ensure that market checking squads are acting strictly as per law in the markets across the district to maintain the price line and availability of essential commodities. He was also informed that rice and other essential goods are available in sufficient quantities in the district including far flung areas of Karnah, Keran and Machil.

The ARTO was directed to keep sufficient transport available while as traffic police was directed to regulate traffic movement in the district.

District Sheep Husbandry Officer was directed to notify locations in the district for sale of sacrificial animals. Municipal Committees shall maintain cleanliness near religious places and masajids.

The Police Department was stressed to maintain law & Order and proper support in maintaining COVID SOPs.

The DC also directed other concerned officers to provide their services so that people do not feel any inconvenience on the eve of the holy day of Eid-ul-Adha.(KNS)
