Handwara, July 16 (KNS): Can we call it sheer injustice or mismanagement of Department of CA&PD as it provided double ration cards to the households in Bakiaker Village of Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara d district.

As per documents available with the KNS, the Department of Consumer Affaris & Public Distribution has resorted to gross misappropriation while issuing ration cards to Bakiaker village of Handwara.

Besides given double rations cards to several households, the Department has issued multiple ration cards on those names who are non-existent.

Sources told Kashmir News Service (KNS) said that some unmarried and college students have got the ration cards who are not qualifying the criteria but being an influential and blue eyed, they are looting the benefits of poor and under privileged category.

The documents clearly showed that multiple names are mentioned repeatedly and are getting double ration per month.

Meanwhile locals expressed shock and said that most of the people in the area are holding double category ration cards while consumers of adjoining villages are having only APL rations cards.

They said some having no influence are yet to get due ration cards.

As per the reliable sources the storekeeper of the area has not been transferred since many years and is involved in recommending blue-eyed persons for double ration cards.

Director CA&PD Bashir Ahmad Khan told KNS that the issue is not in my notice. He said that the department has initiated Aadhar based enrolment in order to cross check frauds.

He added that he will take up the issue and if anybody found guilty, he will be taken to task. (KNS)
