Anantnag Dec 27 (KNS): Inhabitants of Brinty Dialgam on Tuesday staged protest against the Public Health Engineering (PHE) department for ‘failing to provide adequate water supply to them.’
According to KNS correspondent, Hussain Babu, the residents of the village assembled at the main road and chanted slogans against the department. They were demanding adequate water supply to them.
The residents told KNS correspondent that they are facing acute shortage of water from last eight months. “We have requested several times to higher authorities to look into the matter but unfortunately, all in vain,” they said.
They said that the authorities had laid pipes four year back for Brinty dialgam but they didn’t start their work still now. “The work is pending from last four year and people here have been left to face hardships,” they said.
Inhabitants said that the field staff of PHE department hardly bothers to look into the sufferings of people.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel“We have never seen them in the field and don’t know is there any official deputed for the area or not,” they said.
Meanwhile, the residents of Shagus constituency had also staged protest against the department against the move of shifting the filtration plant from their area to other place.
The residents said that the filtration plant has been made for the Shangas Constituency only and its adjoining villages but the government is trying to shift it to other place, which will leave the residents here to suffer.
They said, “In case the government fails to fulfill the demands of residents, we will come on streets and will protest the department.”
Meanwhile, according to KNS correspondent, Tehsildar Shangas reached the spot and assured people that their genuine demands will be fulfilled. (KNS)
