Bollywood actor says Kashmir ‘is normal like any other place’

‘Got huge support from Tourism Dept’

Srinagar, May 04 (KNS): Veteran Bollywood actor Alok Nath Wednesday was all praise for Kashmir and said that minor incidents about Kashmir are blow up and a negative perception is created in the world.
Nath said that Kashmir was normal like any other place and said that after his visit he has found everything opposite to what he has read or heard about the place.
“Whatever I had heard or read about the place, I find it opposite to that. I could not even smell anything like that. I feel this place is like any normal place,” Nath told reporters at SKICC in a press conference.
Nath is presently in the Valley, shooting for his upcoming film ‘Sargoshiyan’ directed by the actor-turned-producer Imran Khan. The film also stars Farida Jalal, Tom Alter and Shahbaz Khan and Sara Afreen Khan.
Nath, visited Kashmir after about 25 years, said that minor things, which happen everywhere across the world, that take place in Kashmir are magnified in a wrong way and the whole situation seems abnormal.
“Minor things about Kashmir are portrayed in a big way, which otherwise should not be done,” he said, adding that he does not want to leave “but for my work commitments”.
Asked about Bollywood actor Anupam Kher’s comments on Kashmir and his participation in political activities, Nath said that Kher has “some political bent on this and he has emotions”.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
“He (Anupam Kher) has personal views, he has some political bent on this and he has emotions, but, I feel, those should not be generalized. It is in isolation (what he is saying) but there is freedom of expression,” Nath said.
“I personally feel that an actor should not take an important part in politics. Our profession is different and sensitive and we should remain in our profession only. This is what I think and I have no control on his thinking,” he said.
Actor-turned-producer Imran Khan said there were some apprehensions about shooting in Kashmir in Nath’s mind after he heard about the recent National Institute of Technology (NIT) row, but “all his apprehensions went away after reaching here”.
“I told Nath that I will complete this film in Kashmir only. Director Tourism Mehmood Shah talked to him over phone and we changed his mind. After he reached here, all his perception changed,” Khan said.
He said Kashmir offers beautiful locales and lovely weather for film shooting.
“We also got huge support from the people here and the Tourism Department,” he said. (KNS)
