Srinagar, Mar 11 (KNS): The BJP's Central Election Committee meeting, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in attendance, is set to convene shortly at the party headquarters in New Delhi.

News agency KNS reported that the focus of the meeting is to discuss additional candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

The initial list was released by the party on March 2 comprising 195 candidates from 16 states.

"The forthcoming meeting is expected to delve into the selection process for the remaining candidates across various states, as the party gears up for the imminent Lok Sabha polls scheduled between April and May this year," source said.

Party sources suggest that candidates for several more Lok Sabha seats could be finalized during the meeting, signaling the party's strategic planning and meticulous approach towards the electoral process.

Notable leaders including Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, and BJP President JP Nadda are anticipated to be present at the meeting, emphasizing the significance of the discussions underway. According to reports, the primary agenda will revolve around scrutinizing potential nominees for different states, with a particular focus on ensuring strong contenders for key constituencies.
Of particular interest is the attention towards Jammu and Kashmir, where the political landscape has undergone significant changes following its transition from a state to a union territory.

Despite this transformation, the region continues to be pivotal for national parties, with the BJP eyeing all five Lok Sabha seats in the Union Territory.
The party has already announced candidates for the Jammu and Udhampur seats.

The meeting is expected to address the dynamics of the Lok Sabha elections in Jammu and Kashmir, especially in light of the newly created Rajouri-Poonch-Anantnag Lok Sabha seat resulting from the delimitation process.( KNS)
