Srinagar, Mar 01 (KNS): Senior Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Abdul Qayoom Wani lashed out at government for banning the socio religious organisation Jamaat-e-Islami.
In a statement issued to KNS, Wani expressed shock on this uncalled decision that has been issued to muzzle the voice of common masses.
While speaking at this occasion, PDP leader lauded the role of JeI in 2014 floods. It was Jamaat-e-Islami whose cadres worked day and night during the calamity to extend relief and rehabilitation to the suffering people. “In 2005 earthquake that left thousands homeless, Jamaat-e-Islami was the exclusive organisation to come forward to help the people in all parts of the state without the discrimination of religion, colour or cast. JeI has always been at the front in the fight against social evils. This organisation is working for the noble cause of humanity and has its existence throughout the world,” he said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Wani questioned the decision of banning it in Jammu and Kashmir when it is the most effective socio religious organisation helping the young and old to live a life of ethics.
PDP leader termed the decision of banning JeI as unconstitutional and said that the political space for the people is shrunk through such cheap acts of trivialism.
“This organisation is working for the poor, needy and destitute. In education sector Jamaat-e-Islami has huge contribution and the schools running under Jamaat are giving quality modern education to the posterity,” Wani added.
Wani demanded immediate revocation of the ban on JeI and release of its cadres unconditionally. (KNS)
