Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha and former Chief Minister of J&K has expressed profound sorrow & grief on the sudden demise of veteran Congress Leader and a prominent political personality of State, Janak Raj Gupta.
Azad said that passing away of Sh. Janak Raj Gupta has created fathomless void in the political landscape of the State which is not easy to be bridged.
“ShJanak Raj Gupta was a remarkable politician, extraordinary human being and a strong pillar of Congress Party”, said Azad, adding that his passing away is a colossal loss for the State and the Party.
“I stand in solidarity with the bereaved family in this hour of grief”, said Azad adding that in the passing away of Sh. Janak Raj Gupta I have lost a longtime associate and a deal colleague.
Cutting short his three days visit to Kashmir Valley, Azad immediately rushed to Jammu to attend the funeral of veteran leader and console the bereaved family members.
Recalling his amiable ways & humble demeanour, Azad said that Sh Gupta’s political conduct will remain an inspiration for the younger politicians of the State.

Describing him a farsighted and people-centric politician, Azad said that Sh. Janak Raj Gupta served the people of the State with exceptional poise, caliber and devotion.
It is pertinent to mention that Sh. Janak Raj Gupta served as MLA, Lok Sabha M.P., Dy. Speaker and Advisor to Chief Minister during his long political journey.
Azad said that his complete faith in secularism made Janak Raj ji acceptable and dear amongst all the sectors of the society.
“He was never allowed by the narrow considerations of caste, religion & region”, said Azad adding that these attributes made him what he was today.
Azad prayed for the eternal piece of the departed soul and grant of strength & fortitude to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss. (KNS)
