Srinagar, Aug 24 (KNS): Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) today condemned in strong words the arrest of employees and termed it an act of intimidation.
In a statement issued to KNS, demanding immediate release of employees President DAK Dr Nisar ul Hassan said such acts of intimidation are against civil liberties.
Civil liberties are personal guarantees that state cannot abridge and in fact is dutiful to protect them.
“Peaceful protests are an inalienable right in a liberal democracy”.
Protests cannot be criminalized or stigmatized in a liberal democracy which guarantees civil and political rights to citizens.

Use of repressive means to stifle dissent is tyrannical.
Employees on Monday were arrested when they were protesting against the use of pellet guns and civilian killings at press enclave Srinagar.
Also, they were voicing for medical neutrality to ensure protection to medical personnel, hospitals and ambulances.
Employees are part and parcel of the society and they cannot remain mute spectators when their brethren are in pain.
Apart from their duties they have an obligation towards their society.
Hundreds of people have been blinded and many have died due to pellets.
Others have lodged in pellets that will continue to poison these hapless victims. (KNS)
