Ajaz Jan seeks immediate rollback of Food Security Act

Poonch, Dec 30 (KNS): Provincial Youth National Conference Jammu on Wednesday castigated PDP-BJP coalition for ignoring public resentment over the implementation of Food Security Act, saying rations distributed under the new scheme will be insufficient for families.
“This is anti-poor and anti-people measure and we strongly oppose it”, said the Provincial Youth National Conference President Ajaz Jan while addressing huge protest rallies at Mandi, Sathra and Loran in Poonch district.
Enraged over the insistence of the coalition government to go ahead with the proposed Act, the people staged massive dharana outside Tehsil Office in Mandi from 9 AM to 2 PM. The dharana, however, was lifted at the intervention of Jan, who said that National Conference will continue to oppose this Act in every forum.
Jan demanded immediate rollback of the Act and sought rations to people as per latest Census. He said at a time rationees were suffering immensely due to rising prices, the government was taking vicarious pleasure in putting them into trouble by implementing the ill-conceived policy. This, he said, will render many ration card holders outside the ambit of subsidized food grains.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelHe said the coalition government stands exposed as the measures being taken are raising doubts. He said the new food policy is destined to boomerang and recoil on the anti-people government.
The former MLA said the coalition government has just been generating controversies over one or the other issue instead of concentrating on development and governance. “The developmental paralysis has retarded overall growth and the people are suffering on account of ill-kempt roads and erratic drinking water and power supply”, he added.
The Provincial Youth National Conference President said mis governance has further accumulated the problems of people while lack of political direction has manifested in demoralized administration. He said the coalition government was working at cross purposes and the promises made prior to formation of the government have proved a big hoax.
The rallies were addressed by several senior National Conference leaders who asked the government not to test the patience of the people by resorting to anti-poor policies. (KNS)
