Srinagar, Oct 16 (KNS): The Agriculture Department Kashmir on Friday opened a sale centre at Lal Mandi in Srinagar to provide a dedicated outlet for agricultural products and improve market access for farmers and agricultural entrepreneurs.
The centre, established at the Directorate of Agriculture, was inaugurated by Director Agriculture Kashmir Sartaj Ahmad Shah in the presence of senior departmental officials.
Officials said the outlet would provide an organised platform for marketing agricultural products, making them more accessible to consumers while creating additional opportunities for producers.
The initiative is aimed at strengthening direct linkages between agricultural producers and buyers, an area considered important for improving the marketing of locally produced agricultural goods.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Speaking on the occasion, Shah said dedicated marketing outlets could help farmers and entrepreneurs reach consumers and improve the visibility of their products.
He stressed the need to strengthen agricultural marketing infrastructure and encourage entrepreneurship in the sector.
Shah also directed departmental officials to ensure the effective functioning of the centre and create awareness among consumers about the availability of agricultural products.
The department, however, did not specify the range of products to be sold, pricing arrangements or whether farmers would be able to market their produce directly through the outlet.
Joint Directors of Agriculture (Extension and Inputs) and other departmental officials attended the inauguration. (KNS)
