Srinagar, Oct 16 (KNS): The Prime Minister's Development Package (PMDP) for Jammu and Kashmir, comprising 53 projects worth Rs 70,244.55 crore, has recorded an aggregate physical progress of 89 per cent, officials said on Friday.

The figures were presented during a review meeting chaired by Secretary, Planning, Development and Monitoring Department (PD&MD), Dr Owais Ahmed, to assess the status of major developmental projects and departmental priorities.

Officials informed the meeting that 123 of the 124 issues identified under the Project Monitoring Group (PMG) mechanism had been resolved, leaving one issue pending.

The meeting, however, did not specify the number of projects completed under the package or provide details of the remaining works.

The Secretary also reviewed progress on several initiatives, including Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Census 2027, Family ID, data harmonisation, Vibrant Villages Programme-II and the Aspirational Districts, Blocks and Panchayats Programme.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Discussions focused on strengthening project monitoring, improving statistical systems and using reliable data for planning and evaluation of government schemes.

The meeting also examined public-private partnership (PPP) initiatives and capacity-building programmes undertaken through the Centre for Innovation and Transformation in Governance (CITaG).

Preparations for the sixth National Conference of Chief Secretaries and the forthcoming Northern Zonal Council meeting were also discussed.

Dr Ahmed directed officials to strengthen coordination between departments, ensure timely submission of information and regularly monitor ongoing projects.

He also stressed the need for prompt resolution of pending issues to prevent delays in the implementation of developmental programmes across Jammu and Kashmir. (KNS)
