Srinagar, June 02 (KNS): The government Thursday said that eight springs have been tapped in Wachi Assembly segment in Shopian district for supplying water to the area.
“The PHE department has tapped eight springs as source for eight water supply schemes (4 lift and 4 gravity) in Wachi constituency,” PHE Minster Sham Choudhray said.
“These springs (sources) have been properly preserved to provide safe drinking water to the beneficiaries,” the minister added.
The minister was replying to a written question of PDP MLA from Wachi, advocate Aijaz Ahmad Mir, in the Lower House today during the Question House of the ongoing Budget Session.

“Conservation of Wular Lake and its associated ecosystems has been taken up in hand by the State Govt. from the year 2011-12 through Wular Conservation and Management Authority (WUCMA),” he said.
“Under 13th finance commission Award, an amount of Rs. 120.00 Crore was approved for conservation and Management of Wular Lake against which Rs. 60.00 Crore and RS. 30.00 Crore respectively released during the year 2011-12 and 2012-13,” he said, adding, “An amount of Rs. 45.39 Crore have been utilized upto ending 3/2016. The balance cost of the project amounting to RS. 60.00 Crore have now been approved under PM’s development package (PMDP-TAMEIR).” (KNS)
