Congress leaders attend function, pays tribute to Soni

Srinagar, Jul 06 (KNS): A function was Thursday organised at village Plouta, Ramgarh to mark the 18th death anniversary of Gurdeep Singh Soni of 8th Sikh Regiment, who laid down his life, while fighting with the militants.
Sr. Vice President J&K Congress and former minister was the chief guest and Presided by Raman Bhalla, Sdr Manjeet Singh former ministers while parents of Mohan Singh and Manjeet Kour, Sarpanches, Panchs and large number of people were also present in the programme to pay floral tributes to martyr Gurdeep Singh Soni.
The speakers described the martyr Gurdeep Singh Soni ‘a hero of their area’ and strongly criticized the Pakistan, for aiding the militancy in the State of Jammu and Kashmir.
Sham Sharma, Raman Bhalla, Sdr Manjeet Singh while paying tributes to martyr said that “Gurdeep Singh faced the enemy without caring for his life. He sacrificed his life like a true soldier.”
Saluting the courage of the Singh, Congress leaders said that “the victory in Kargil was an achievement for which the nation is proud of the soldiers and citizens must rededicate themselves to the national cause and with unrelenting courage and fierce determination, our braves soldiers are guarding the country from the enemy’s clutches, while our brave jawans are still on a tough mission to uphold the dignity of our nation, the least which the rest of the countrymen can do is to give them moral support. “
“Though we are hundreds of miles away, living in comforts of our homes with our families around us, we must assure them that we are with them all the time," Congress leaders said.
Taking a dig on BJP Sham Sharma said that “since the NDA government came into power there has been tremendous increase in the infiltration, unprovoked Pak firing and over all tension on the border both at IB and LoC because of rising trend in the Pak firing.”
“The casualties of our soldiers have increased many folds due to wrong policies of the government both at centre and state,” he said, adding that “the attitude of the BJP-PDP and NDA government towards border people, living in a tense situation on the border as the intermittent has made them homeless.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel”
On the issue of GST, Sharma said that BJP though had surrendered before the PDP but it has now completely succumbed under the pressure of PDP by supporting to bring the GST in the assembly for discussion and it's passage.
He said that “the BJP government has set a new tend regarding implementation of central laws in the state.”
Sharma said that till now the central government needed only concurrence of state cabinet to extend central laws to the state.
He further said that more than 46 amendments have been extended with the concurrence of state cabinet since 1953.
“The BJP used to say that whenever it come to power they will abrogate Art 370 but with the above new precedence set by the BJP PDP government it seems are making Art 370 more stronger and stronger,” he added.
He said this dual standard of the BJP had completely exposed them about the seriousness of abrogation Art 370.
Sharma said that PDP BJP government has created nuisance for the central government as and when any central law comes into force, this government first get it passed through assembly. He said that indifferent attitude of the PDP BJP government towards GST has created a distance between people of Jammu and Kashmir region.
He expressed his anguish over the comments passed by Kashmiri legislature against Dogra ruler where in various ministers, legislatures and even speaker were present in the house but they remained mute spectator and hadn't courage to react the irresponsible statement of Kashmiri legislature.
He expressed surprise that “for the lust of power, BJP leaders didn't react to the words said against Maharaja of our state.” (KNS)
