JAMMU, Oct 7 (KNS): National Conference leader Ajay Sadhotra on Wednesday said women have an important role to play in the struggle for restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir and urged them to actively participate in the campaign.
According to a statement issued, Addressing a meeting of the NC women's wing in Ward No. 34 of Jammu Municipal Corporation in the Jammu North Assembly Constituency, Sadhotra said the demand for restoration of statehood should be taken to every section of society.
He alleged that the BJP had betrayed the people of Jammu and Kashmir despite assurances regarding restoration of statehood.
“Why the BJP is not fulfilling its promise is not known to the common man. People in J&K, especially in the Jammu division, who gave a huge mandate to the BJP feel deceived,” he said.
Sadhotra appealed to women to come forward and actively participate in the struggle for restoration of statehood, saying statehood was important for safeguarding land and employment and ensuring a dignified future for future generations.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
He said the erstwhile J&K state was a historical entity and alleged that the BJP government had divided it into two Union Territories and downgraded its status.
Addressing the gathering, Ayesha Gupta, in-charge of the Jammu North Assembly Constituency of the NC women's wing, urged women workers to take the demand for restoration of statehood to every nook and corner of J&K.
During the meeting, Arti was nominated as president of the NC women's wing for Ward No. 34.
The meeting was organised by Rajinder Kumar, Sonu Kumar and Romesh Chander.
Several NC leaders and workers, including Tilak Raj Bhagat, Sandeep Singh Manhas, Ved Parkash Sharma, Dr Rajinder Kumar Bhardwaj, Veer Ji Bhat, Vishawjeet Singh Samyal, Anju Mehra, Priyanka Dogra, Poonam Sharma, Neeru, Preeti and Veena, also spoke on the occasion.(KNS)
