Sadhotra terms 9 years of BJP’s misgovernance as era of broken promises

Jammu June 12 (KNS): Describing the nine years of BJP Government as an era of broken promises, Former Minister and Senior National Conference leader Mr Ajay Kumar Sadhotra said today while addressing a meeting organized by Dr. Tony Chowdhary and Sangeet Sharma at MACHINE DOMANA IN JAMMU NORTH ASSEMBLY CONSTITUENCY, that on completion of its Ninth Year, the people of India especially of Jammu and Kashmir are angry with the policies of the government and would certainly give the BJP a grand exit through their power of ballot.

According to a statement issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Sadhotra further called out the BJP for exploiting religious sentiments, inciting ultranationalist passions, and creating drift between the communities to remain glued to the power. “Now that the BJP stands exposed for failure on all fronts and pushing the nation to crisis like situations, it has resorted to visiting doorsteps of the alienated people, in a vain bid to establish the connect, but the response is more than clear, as manifested in the recently held Karnataka that has sent shock waves to the entire saffron rank and file”, said Sadhotra.

Sadhotra asked BJP, is 9 years of misgovernance “ACHHE DIN AAYENGE” for poor and common people of the country. Sadhotra said the people are within their rights to ask the BJP on the promises like Rs 15 lakh being deposited in the accounts of each Indian family, bringing black money to the country from outside, creation of two crore jobs per year for unemployed youth, doubling the income of farmers, pushing up the economy by devising people friendly policies, ensuring rapid industrialization for growth and instilling sense of security among the compatriots. Instead, unemployment and inflation are alarmingly rising, national security is being compromised by introducing AGNI VEER RECRUITMENT in ARMY, corruption and nepotism has plagued the entire set up and last but not the least, the people are staring at the dark future ahead, lest corrective measures are initiated on emergent basis, which seem to be beyond the realm of the present dispensation, he added. He described the BJP as dream merchants, saying they might have perfectioned in marketing practices but on the delivery front, their track record is dismal. Making a mention of Ujwala Scheme, he said that after creating euphoria over free LPG connections, the poor women were left to fend for themselves after delivery of just a few cylinders. “Now they have neither purchasing power to get the cylinders nor are they in a position to roll back to traditional means of cooking”, he said. Referring to the bleak scenario in Jammu and Kashmir, the former minister said the poor and the youth are braving the brunt of the BJP’s misgovernance. As if the burgeoning unemployment was not enough due to lack of avenues and dolling out of jobs to the outsiders, the poor young students feel handicapped to pursue studies after 12th class as the process for higher education has been made cumbersome by introducing the nation-wide competition for admissions.

After paying the hefty admission fee, the candidates are unsure about the examination centres outside the Union Territory. This is the gift of the BJP to the younger generation which is seen as the future of the nation, he added. Mr Sadhotra lamented over the developmental needs of Jammu and Kashmir and said the defunct and inadequate utility services have added to the miseries of the people. The Smart City concept has totally failed due to unrealistic approaches adopted by the concerned agencies, as a result of which the twin cities are witnessing chaos all over. Laying of pavements and the so-called improvement of the road network has impacted vehicular movement and posed danger for the pedestrians. The pavement spaces are being used for idle parking of vehicles, forcing the pedestrians to commute on roads at the risk of imminent accidents. He also referred to acute scarcity of power and drinking water during the ongoing scorching summer months, saying the condition in the municipal area of Jammu being so grave, one can only wonder about the situation in semi-urban and rural areas. He summed up the nine years of the BJP government as disastrous for the future of the nation and worrisome for the compatriots, who have paid huge price for making wrong choices, not once but twice. “Now they are resolute enough to steer out themselves from the misgovernance by voting out the BJP in 2024 elections”, he added.

Others who spoke on the occasion are S/Sh. Rakesh Sharma YNC President, Dr. Rajinder Kumar Sharma, Ch Subash Chander, Madan Lal Bhagat Ex-Sarpanch, Capt. Deepak Singh Rakwal, Sub. Guni Ram, Natha Ram Bhagat, Master Rashpal Chand Verma, Ch Parvez and Rajinder Kumar, Nanak Singh Jamwal.(KNS)
