Two arrested in Bandipora theft case, stolen property recovered

Srinagar, Oct 3 (KNS): Police have arrested two persons in connection with a theft case in Ganastan area of Nowgam in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district and recovered the stolen property, officials said on Saturday.

Police received a complaint on September 18 regarding the theft of various items at Ganastan, following which FIR No. 209/2026 was registered under Sections 305, 331(4) and 317(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Police Post Nowgam, Police Station Sumbal.

During the investigation, police arrested Shabir Ahmed Wani, son of Ghulam Qadir Wani, a resident of Sadunara.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelDuring questioning, he allegedly disclosed his involvement in the theft along with an accomplice and revealed the location of the stolen property, which was subsequently recovered from his residence.

Further investigation led to the identification and arrest of the second accused, Mohammad Shafi Dar, son of Abdul Samad Dar, also a resident of Sadunara, police said.

Both accused have been arrested, while further interrogation is underway to ascertain their possible involvement in other theft cases and identify any additional persons connected with the offence, police added. (KNS)
