Mehbooba appeals Kashmiri Muslims to protect KPs from getting killed

Pulwama, Feb 27 (KNS): PDP President and former chief minister J&K Mehbooba Mufti on Monday appealed Kashmiri Muslims to take every possible measure to provide safety to the minority community members and save them getting killed at the hands of assailants.

Speaking to reporters in south Kashmir’s Pulwama, Mehbooba said “We Kashmiri Muslims are ashamed on the death of Kashmiri Pandit Sanjay Sharma. We are those who safeguarded the ethos of brotherhood and communal harmony when entire country indulged in Hindu-Muslim riots in 1947. Only Kashmir was the place where minorities were protected and guarded”. Mehbooba expressed these remarks at Achan Pulwama where visited the house of slain Sanjay Sharma who was shot dead by unidentified militants few meters away from his residence on Sunday morning.

“Kashmiri Pandits are asset of Kashmir. I appeal to my Kashmiri Muslims to take every possible measure to provide a sense of security to the minority community and save them getting killed at the hands of assailants”, Mehbooba said.

Mehbooba said the situation is going bad to worse with the each passing day in J&K and the people of Kashmir themselves are trapped in uncertain situation. “We are in between the two guns. One side government atrocities in the name of curbing militancy are unabated. Detention and raids are a continuous process. ED, NIA and other agencies are seizing properties of Kashmiris. Government is claiming the militancy has reduced in J&K. I want to ask them why Sanjay Sharma got killed then,” Mehbooba said.

She appealed to government to provide government job to the wife of deceased Sanjay Sharma and provide adequate compensation to daughters of the deceased. (KNS)
