Jammu, Aug 18 (KNS): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday chaired the 81st meeting of the Jammu and Kashmir Rajya Sainik Board here, emphasising the need for strengthened welfare delivery and timely grievance redressal for the armed forces community.
The meeting, held at Lok Bhavan, was attended by senior civil and military officials including Northern Command GOC-in-C Lt Gen Pratik Sharma, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, and Director Sainik Welfare Brig Pankaj Chib (Retd), among others.
"The Board deliberated on key issues concerning veterans, Veer Naris, widows and dependents, covering welfare delivery, grievance redressal, healthcare and institutional strengthening," an official spokesperson said.
Key decisions included the establishment of a Zila Sainik Welfare Office at Kishtwar and improved coordination on pension-related matters. The board also discussed empanelment of government hospitals — AIIMS Jammu, GMC Rajouri, GMC Doda and Government Hospital Kupwara — under the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) for enhanced healthcare access.

LG Sinha reiterated his commitment to the welfare of veterans and their families, assuring that every step would be taken to honour their sacrifices and ensure a life of dignity, the spokesperson said.
In a separate meeting, the LG chaired the State Management Committee on the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund, which considered welfare-oriented proposals covering medical and health support, infrastructure, outreach, education and skill development.
The committee also proposed initiatives including education and career incentives, deployment of psychological counsellors in identified areas, skill development support, and improved welfare infrastructure, officials said. (KNS)
