Valley shuts on JRL’s call

Srinagar, Apr 23 (KNS): Following the call given by Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL), a complete shutdown was on Tuesday observed across the Valley.

The shutdown was called by JRL against what they termed as NIA’s aggression and deteriorating health condition of JRL leader Muhammad Yasin Malik, who is also chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF).

Malik was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Delhi after his health condition got deteriorated following his hunger strike over the ‘ill-treatment meted out to inmates in Tihar jail’.

JRl had also called for a shutdown against suspension of cross-LoC trade and highway ban on civilian traffic.

All the shops and other commercial establishments remained closed while as the vehicular movement was also thin on the roads.

Besides, witnesses said that police and paramilitary troopers were deployed in strength in Srinagar areas to thwart any possible protests today.

A top police official meanwhile said that situation across the valley remained peaceful and under control throughout the day. (KNS)
