Admin’s dilatory mode of functioning puts fruit growers in dire straits: Veeri

Srinagar, Dec 12 (KNS): Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday expressed serious concern over the work going on at snail’s pace for the construction of fruit markets in south Kashmir’s Bijbihara, Pulwama and Shopian.
PDP Vice President Abdul Rahman Veeri while visiting South Kashmir’s Anantnag and meeting various people’s delegations was appraised about the hardships being faced by the fruit growers there due to the delay in building of fruit Mandis at Jabli Pora Bijbehara, Pulwama and Aglar Shopian.
Veeri said that despite the proposals for the building of the fruit mandis in these areas stand approved since long, the slow pace of work is adding up worries of fruit growers at large.
He added that the south Kashmir’s economy has fruit cultivation as its mainstay and that the government must pay heed to the hardships being faced by the orchardists due to the lack of facilities.
Veeri maintained that instead of allowing funds to get lapsed, the administration must take serious note of snail’s pace of work going on for the construction of fruit Mandis at Jabli Pora Bijbehara, Pulwama and Aglar Shopian so that the fruit growers heave a sigh of relief from the difficulties they face while making their produce available in the markets.
Veeri urged the Governor Administration of the state to take up the matter seriously and direct the concerned departments to fast pace the work on projects at an earliest. (KNS)
