Jammu Railway Division undertakes special cleanliness drive to ensure safe drinking water

JAMMU, Oct 7 (KNS): The Jammu Division of Northern Railway has launched a special sanitation campaign to ensure clean and safe drinking water for passengers and railway employees across the division.

As part of the campaign, intensive cleaning and sanitisation of water tanks is being carried out at railway stations, colonies, pump houses and coaching depots under the Jammu Division.

The railway administration said water quality has been regularly monitored since the formation of the Jammu Division in 2025.

During the ongoing campaign, 527 residual chlorination tests, 46 bacteriological tests and 46 Aqua Vial and chemical tests have been conducted so far, with all water samples found safe and satisfactory, according to the administration.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Measures are also being taken to prevent contamination of water sources. Underground and overhead water tanks are being properly sealed and covered, while open water sources are being secured with iron netting to prevent dust and other external contaminants from entering them.

The division said regular cleaning, water quality testing and monitoring of storage facilities are being undertaken to ensure the supply of safe drinking water to passengers and railway staff.(KNS)
