10-day-old injured leopard found in Tangmarg

Srinagar, Dec 27 (KNS): A 10-day old injured leopard, who had ventured into a Tangmarg village, was handed over to the Wildlife department authorities by a local resident.
Reports said one Raja Waseem was travelling in his car and when he reached Qazipora in Tangmarg, he saw a 10-day old leopard on road in an injured condition. Waseem put the leopard in his car and took him to nearby hospital wherefrom he was handed over to the Wildlife department authorities.
A Wildlife department official while confirming the incident said the age of the leopard was just 10-days. “After treating the leopard, we took him to the spot wherefrom he was picked up by Waseem. We left him there with a hope that the mother of the leopard might be looking for him,” he said.
The official said due to heavy snowfall in higher reaches the wild animals have moved towards the residential areas in search of food. He appealed people to immediately inform the officials in case any wild animal moves into their area. (KNS)
