‎Srinagar, Sep 11 (KNS): Housekeeping staff working as sweepers with Jammu & Kashmir Bank have sought their confirmation and regularisation as Banking Attendants, citing their long years of service and alleging that some junior employees were selected while senior sweepers were left out.

‎In a representation addressed to the Chairman of J&K Bank at its Corporate Headquarters on M.A. Road, Srinagar, the housekeeping staff from Anantnag said they have been serving the bank for several years and have been performing their duties with sincerity and dedication.

‎The employees said they belong to financially weaker families and depend solely on their jobs to support their households. They also highlighted the difficulties caused by their “meager remuneration” and said their financial responsibilities have increased over the years.

‎The staff further said they had appeared for an interview conducted by the bank in 2019 in connection with confirmation/regularisation.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelHowever, they alleged that despite their seniority and years of service, some junior sweepers were selected while several senior employees were left out.

‎“We were called for an interview by the bank in 2019 for the purpose of confirmation,” the employees said in their representation, adding that some junior sweepers were subsequently selected while they did not receive any communication regarding their confirmation.
‎
‎The employees have now urged the bank’s Chairman to examine the matter and take appropriate action on their request for confirmation/regularisation as Banking Attendants.
‎
‎They also said that their respective Branch Managers could provide details about their work and performance, and expressed willingness to upgrade their skills to meet the requirements of the Banking Attendant post.
