Srinagar, Sep 08 (KNS) : Jammu & Kashmir Peoples Conference (JKPC) General Secretary and President of All Jammu & Kashmir Shia Association, Molvi Imran Ansari, has expressed serious concern over the recently notified Qualification/Eligibility and Selection Criteria for the posts of Class-IV (MTS)/Sanitation Workers, highlighting the larger crisis of unemployment among educated youth in Jammu & Kashmir.
In a tweet, Ansari said that while he fully supports employment opportunities for 8th, 10th and 12th pass candidates, it was deeply concerning that PhDs, Master’s degree holders and graduates who remain unemployed are being barred from applying for certain posts because they are considered overqualified.
He said every young person deserves the right to earn a dignified livelihood and questioned a policy that excludes educated unemployed youth at a time when many have spent years searching for suitable employment opportunities.
Ansari urged Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to reconsider the policy and remove the maximum qualification bar, allowing highly educated unemployed youth to apply for these posts as well.
“Many educated young people have already spent years waiting for suitable employment and are gradually losing their eligibility because of age.

The JKPC General Secretary further called for a flexible policy for the next few years, allowing overqualified candidates to compete for such posts until unemployment among educated youth declines to a reasonable level. He said the policy could subsequently be reviewed according to the prevailing employment situation.
Ansari also stressed the need for a comprehensive, long-term employment strategy in Jammu & Kashmir, including compulsory skill-based education from the school level.
“Not every livelihood requires a degree, and skills must be given equal importance so that 8th, 10th and 12th pass youth can also build sustainable careers,” he said.
Highlighting the seriousness of the situation, Ansari said that if PhDs, Master’s degree holders and graduates are struggling to find employment, it reflects the alarming depth of the unemployment crisis in Jammu & Kashmir.
He urged the Chief Minister to take immediate note of the concerns and formulate a fair and inclusive employment policy that provides opportunities to every section of Jammu & Kashmir’s youth. (KNS)
