Notified as Waqf property decades back, the Ziyarat Shareef was brought under control after Hon’ble High Court vacated the Status Quo orders.

Srinagar April 08 (KNS): On the instructions of the Chairperson, J&K Waqf Board, Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi, the administrative control of Ziyarat Shareef Rayil Gund Kangan was today taken over by Waqf Board at Ganderbal. The Ziyarat Shareef of Hazrat Syed Jaffar (R.A), Hazrat Syed Rehman(R.A), & Hazrat Syed Ul Hajra(R.A).

The litigation pertaining to its administrative control continued for years in the Hon’ble High Court of J&K, and the shrine was under control of a single family, that was collecting all donations offered by devotees for their personal use. Waqf authorities over the years had adopted lackadaisical approach in pursuing the matter at the Honorable High Court giving the family a free hand to collect the donations in cash & kind without being accountable to anyone.

However, soon after the constitution of J&K Waqf Board, Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi issued instructions for vigorous perusal of the matter at the Honorable High Court, & as soon as the status quo orders were vacated, process was initiated for the administrative take over of this Waqf Notified property. After taking administrative control of the shrine Dr Andrabi thanked the judiciary for this historic decision.

She thanked the district administration and the Senior Superintendent of Police Ganderbal & his team for supporting the Waqf Board in the takeover process. "Despite the hate statements of a the political exploiters, Waqf will continue to reform Waqf management and places which are Waqf notified cannot be allowed to be used for individual promotion, economic exploitation and social divide", said Dr Andrabi. She thanked the public for supporting the Waqf Board initiatives at the ground level in J&K.(KNS)
