Srinagar, May 27 (KNS): The legislative Assembly Friday erupted with uproarious scenes as the Opposition cornered the government over Handwara killings and National Food Security Act.
As soon as the Question House of the started, Opposition, including National Conference and Congress created uproar by shouting slogans against the PDP-BJP alliance.
National Conference members moved into the Well of the House and demanded justice for the Handwara girl and investigation into the killings of five civilians.
Congress members shouted that the NFSA has deprived people in the state of ration. Repeating their slogans ‘Bashan nahi ration chahiye’ (We don’t need speeches but ration), the legislators sat in the well for more than half an hour and raised slogans against the government.

CAPD minister Choudhary Zulfikar Ali while responding to the ration scarcity claims of the Congress said that there is no food scarcity in the state.
Ali blamed the NC-Congress coalition for implementing the NFSA. Trying to pacify the opposition, the minister said that there will be discussion on the NFSA in the House.
Unconvinced by the reply, the opposition staged walk out from the House as a mark of protest.
PDP senior leader and Minister for PWD Abdul Rehman Veeri accused the opposition of disrupting the proceedings. “You have no issues, but are playing to the gallery,” Veeri said.
Demanding justice in Handwara killings and for the girl, the National Conference members raised slogans of ‘Handwra ki beti ko insaf do’.
Speaker of the LA Kavinder Gupta said that the investigation report into the Handwara will be ready in two days. (KNS)
