Srinagar, June 23 (KNS): An unidentified militant was killed in a gunfight that broke out between militants and the security forces in South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Wednesday, officials said.

An official told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that the gunfight broke out in Shirmal area of Shopian today.

Kashmir Police Zone in Tweet said: “ShopianEncounterUpdate: 01 unidentified militant killed. #Operation in progress. Further details shall follow.”

Earlier Police said: “Encounter has started at Shirmal area of #Shopian. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow.” (KNS)
