Unfortunate NC MLAs politicising obituaries: says Sunil Sharma

Srinagar, Oct 23(KNS): Senior BJP leader and Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma on Thursday criticized National Conference MLAs for remarks made against deceased members during obituary references, a day before the Rajya Sabha elections. He noted that the MLAs had visited the homes of voters with the Quran, Islam’s holy book, while taking an oath to vote in the upcoming elections.

Sharma said he was disappointed by the actions of some NC legislators. According to him, the MLAs were venting their frustration against people who are no longer alive. “I am a little disappointed that some MLAs of the National Conference have spoken against the people who are no more in this world,” he said. He added that there is a proper time to speak about members who have passed away, and that obituary references should not be politicized.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Sharma also said that the NC’s actions reflected a focus on political matters rather than observing established norms in the House. “Unfortunately, the National Conference is suffering from a mental illness. They are saddened by the fact that their homes are being demolished. The National Conference is saddening them. All the MLAs have come to their homes with the Quran. They have taken an oath to vote tomorrow. They are venting their anger here against the people who are no more in this world. There is a time, a day when you have to say good things about that member when there are obituary references. You are politicizing this day as well. It is unfortunate,” he said.

The remarks come just hours ahead of the Rajya Sabha elections, where political parties are mobilizing support among MLAs.(KNS).
