Two detained after parking dispute leaves Srinagar-bound bus passenger injured in Haryana

Srinagar, Oct 18 (KNS): Two persons were detained and an FIR registered after a parking dispute between the drivers of a bus and a car escalated into violence in Haryana's Karnal district, leaving a passenger injured and the bus's windowpanes damaged, police said on Sunday.

The incident took place around 10 pm on Saturday near Divine Star Dhaba in the Butana area, when a verbal altercation reportedly broke out between the drivers over parking, they said.

According to police, the argument escalated, during which one of the accused allegedly damaged the bus's windowpanes, leaving a passenger injured.

A police team was rushed to the spot after receiving information about the altercation and found the bus's windowpanes damaged, a police spokesperson said.

The two persons, identified as Mohit, the driver of a white Maruti Baleno car, and Saawan, a resident of Karnal district, were detained, police said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

No formal complaint was lodged initially as the parties informed the police that they had reached a mutual compromise, following which the bus continued its journey towards Srinagar, they said.

However, an FIR was subsequently registered at Butana police station following a complaint by the manager of Divine Star Hotel/Dhaba, police said.

The car, bearing registration number HR05BQ2412, has also been taken into police custody, and further legal proceedings are underway, they added.

Police said the incident stemmed from a spontaneous dispute over parking and there was no element of a hate crime involved. They also urged the public not to pay heed to rumours circulating on social media. (KNS)
