Srinagar, Aug 13 (KNS): Two army men and a militant has been killed in the ongoing fierce encounter between militants and government forces in Awmera village in Shopian district.
Director General of Police Dr SP Vaid said two security personnel were killed, while three were injured. "One militant has been eliminated and two are still hiding in adjoining house," Vaid told reporters here.
The gunfight has been going on from Saturday evening in the village.
Police is yet to reveal the identity of the militants, though a police official told KNS that the body of the militant has been found but is yet to be retrieved.
Meanwhile, two policemen were injured today morning in Hajin, Bandipora when militants fired on a then during cordon and search operation in the area.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Police officials said the the militants managed to escape as local residents threw stones towards security forces to disrupt the operation and help militants fled.
Meanwhile, the civilian, Imtiyaz Ahmad Mir of Hawal, Srinagar, who was injured during an explosion yesterday near Budyari Chowk, Dalgate, has succumbed to his injuries
Police said that Mir was admitted at SMHS Hospital and he was referred to SKIMS Soura during wee hours today for further treatment. "He succumbed to his injuries at SKIMS," the police said. (KNS)
