Srinagar, Jun 04 (KNS): Scores of persons including force personnels, cops and civilians sustained injuries in a twin grenade blasts that took place in South Kashmiri’s Shopian and Pulwama districts on Monday.
In Shopian, at least ten persons sustained injuries after militants lobbed a grenade at Batapora village.
Police officials said that the grenade explosion led to the injuries to four cops and some civilians as well.
“Around 12 civilians are reportedly injured in this explosion. A young girl has received critical injuries in this explosion while four policemen also sustained injuries in this incident,” reports quoting officials said.
He said the injured have been shifted to nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Reports identified the injured policemen as: Inspector Gulzar Ahmad SHO police station Shopian is injured in left leg, Altaf Ahmad (Constable) is injured in left hand, Javid Ahmad (Constable) is injured in left eye, and Nazir Ahmad (policeman) injured in back.
They said that two women—Farida and Nadiya--were shifted from District Hospital Shopian to Srinagar’s SMHS Hospital for further treatment.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelBoth the injured women are from Shopian’s Sedow area.
“Terrorists lobbed grenade at a busy market in #Shopian. Some people including policemen are injured.Details will follow,” police tweeted.
In another incident of grenade attack, four paramilitary CRPF troopers and three civilians sustained injuries after militants lobbed grenade at Tahab Pulwama in South Kashmir.
Police said that all the injured persons including the troopers as well as the the civilians are stated to be stable.
“In a Grenade blast at Tahab Pulwama, four CRPF personnel and three civilians sustained injuries. All stated to be stable. Details will follow,” police tweeted.
Meanwhile, police said that they detected an IED on Nathipora- Wadoora area of Sopore in north Kashmir's Baramulla district.
Police said that the forces detected an IED placed on roadside by militants in the area.
“The IED after being detected was defused immediately by Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) without causing any damage,” police said. (KNS)
